Trained in both Tibetan Buddhism and Medicine, together with the experience of traveling around the world for almost three dacades, Dr.Nida Chenagtsang has unique insights on spiritual growth and well-being.

In seven days, Dr.Nida Chenagtsang plans to guide you to explore the profound wisdom of Medicinal supreme beings, experiencing a holistic blend of luminous mind and rejuvenated body.

Culminating on the final day, there will be Ngagpa ordination for commmited disciples from Dr Nida Chenagtsang, symbolising the formal induction into the Ngakpa lineage and becoming a practitioner in this special tradition from Tibet.

Nagpa ordination

Dr Nida is only ordaining students to have already followed Yuthok Nyingthig for some time, and those who aspire to set foot on the path of Yuthok Nyingthig. So essentially, it is about a decision if you aspire to complete the practices of YN, transforming your own life as the vessel of healing to help yourself and those who are around you.

Additional information

Dear participants, our local volunteer team is excited and busy working to make your stay as comfortable as we can. We might not be able to offer you a five star hotel experience, but we will do our best to adjust to your needs.

• ARRIVAL

  If you are coming from outside of Estonia, we suggest you fly a day or two prior to the training to Tallinn airport. From there you can get a bus ticket on www.tpilet.ee from Tallinn to Viljandi. Tallinn bus stop is very close to the airport.

  We will organise pick-ups from Viljandi. Detailed info will be provided to registered participants. We will assist you to get to Sowa Rigpa Väluste School house or to Vanasauna (if you booked sleeping place there).

  Please be prepared that the local transfer might cost you taxi fare if our volunteers are not free. The taxi fare could be about 25 to 30 euros. However, we will try our best to coordinate a volunteer to pick you up.

• SLEEPING

  Please note that the sleeping space at the Väluste school house is shared.

  If you have certain sleeping problems and conditions, we suggest getting a cottage at Vanasauna (www.vanasauna.ee) or hotel room in Viljandi (https://visitviljandi.ee/en/visiting/accommodation/). It will cost more but your sleep is priceless! Good sleep will secure a good experience at the teaching as well.

  Clean bed sheets and quilts/blankets are provided for those sleeping inside the Väluste school house. If we have extra, we are happy to share with those who will sleep outside in the tents. Indoor showers and some access to kitchen are accessible for both.

  October is the time where sometimes winter starts to show. Sometimes October is sunny with 15 degrees during the daytime, but it's also not uncommon to get frost and snow.

• FOOD

  We have hired a local cooking company to take care of your meals for 20 euros per person per day.

  The menu will be provided for registered people.

  Please have a look of the menu when you receive it. If you have food allergy and need special arrangement, please kindly contact the food service provider directly about it. This might apply extra cost, we will try to keep it within 20 euros, but depending on what you can eat and drink, there might be extra costs that you have to take care of.

  The nearest food shop is in Mustla, 10km from the School house. If you want personal snacks and drinks, it's possible for our volunteers to drive you there.

• LEISURE

  The sauna at Vanasauna guesthouse (www.vanasauna.ee) is right next to a beautiful lake, dipping into the lake after sauna is an unique Estonian experience. We will organise sauna events during the teaching, if possible. If you really enjoyed the sauna and wish to offer it to your peers, booking a sauna for two hours at Vanasauna costs 40 euros, every extra hour is 10 euros.

  Viljandi has beautiful landscape and walking trails for 2 to 4 hours, there is also beautiful and delicious restaurants in the county. On some of the teaching days, you will have time to go and enjoy a bit. Check information here: https://visitviljandi.ee/en/.

The Forum strives to create a space for an international community of health and care providers to share and learn the latest ways of practicing Sowa Rigpa and Mental Health.

This is the FIRST GLOBAL GATHERING of Sowa Rigpa Communities after the world pandemic. We eagerly await your participation and share a memorable summer in Viljandi, Estonia.

DAY 1 : MENTAL HEALTH

The embedded Buddhist care ethics within Sowa Rigpa have been a keen interest for health and care providers, particularly concerning the body-mind schemes to improve mental well-being.
Our key speakers in the fields of Sowa Rigpa, psychiatry, psychology, and Medical anthropology, will share their insights to help listeners create a richer approach to creative (self)care solutions. After a 30-minute presentation from four speakers, a 1-hour panel discussion will be followed to deepen the dialogue, where an audience of both in-person and online will have the chance to join the discussion.
We aim for a lively verbal interaction for the morning session and Sowa Rigpa home therapy workshop with guidance is offered during the afternoon session after three speakers and panel discussions.
The first day should open multiple doors for participants to explore furthermore about mental health care, prevention, and solutions. By 10th April, we will announce the final program.

DAY 2 : DREAMS & MEDICINAL PLANTS

In the morning session, four distinguished Keynote speakers will present various schools and traditions that approach dream studies, paving the way for an engaging panel discussion to explore innovative methods for connecting with dreams and sleep. Understanding dream studies within the context of health and care involves navigating both subjective and objective dimensions, reflecting the intricate nature of human well-being beyond anthropocentric paradigms.

During the afternoon session, another esteemed team of Keynote speakers will delve into the therapeutic benefits of medicinal plants and ancient formulas from Sowa Rigpa for enhancing mental well-being and improving sleep quality. Furthermore, the day will conclude with a 90-minute workshop focused on Sowa Rigpa external therapy techniques designed to promote deep relaxation of the nervous system and facilitate restful sleep.

It is essential to foster a safe and inclusive environment for discussing the pivotal role of dreams and dream studies in promoting both physical and mental well-being, and fostering collective learning and understanding.

DAY 3 -SORIG THESIS PRESENTATIONS-

Sorig Khang International has been instrumental in fostering the establishment of numerous educational organizations dedicated to Sowa Rigpa worldwide. These organizations offer comprehensive 2-year and 4-year programs.

Recognizing the importance of offering a forum for students/graduates to showcase their thesis to a broader audience and receive valuable feedback, we extend an invitation on the third day to those who are ready to present their thesis and independent research.

Please consider dropping us your thesis abstract before 15th April. We encourage you to share your work and ideas with us.

On the evening of June 19th, Dr Nida Chenagtsang will perform Peaceful Firepuja for the well-being of all beings and nature.

“The main problem is, that we are all more or less afraid of darkness.

The reason for this is that we do not know what darkness is. We think that the absence of light is darkness and that is scary. Somehow it is true, but the main reality of darkness is, that darkness is the most powerful light.

It comes from the fact that darkness enhances our inner light –
we are made of light, we are coming from the light, we are light.

Dark retreat is the most powerful way to discover our own nature. It is a very direct experience of our potential and inner forces. “

Course content:

The teachings cover the following questions:

• What is the aim and idea of dark retreat

• What mental and emotional preparations are suggested before and during dark retreat

• In darkness we can understand that all visions that occur are our state of mind, what are the methods to not get lost in visions, fears, and thoughts in darkness?

• How to interpret the visions and feelings

• What practices and activities are suggested during the dark retreat

The course can be attended either in person at the Men Ling Tibetan Medicine Center in Jõõpre, near Pärnu, or via Zoom.

Language:

The course will be conducted in English with translation into Estonian available (if needed, participants can join different Zoom groups where simultaneous translation into several other languages will be provided).

Zoom: Option to participate via Zoom is also available.

Directions from Jõõpre Center to Men Ling: 

At the Jõõpre Center, there is a “MEIE” shop. It is located on the left side when coming from both Tallinn and Pärnu. After the shop, approximately 100 meters towards Lavassaare, you’ll see a new kindergarten and school building on the right side. At the corner of the street, there is a stainless steel SILVER OWL. Turn right from there.

Drive past the school building, over a small bridge, and continue straight ahead on the freshly asphalted road for about 1km until the road ends near the field. Then, turn left under the “Eramaa” sign and immediately turn right after 30 meters. The Men Ling Tibetan Medicine Center, a yellow house with a red stone roof, is visible from afar behind the young spruce stand.
